How-To: Find specific query results within one field - OpenOffice.org Base
  1. This screencast will demonstrate how to find query results based on only one field.
  2. First, we shall go to the search window by clicking here on the "binoculars" button. This is the Find Record button.
  3. The record search window should open.
  4. Now, first specify where to search for results here. Since we want to concentrate our search in a single field, click on the "Single Field" option.
  5. Then, click on this field and type in the text you want to search for.
  6. Afterwards, click on "Search"
  7. Oh! There seems to be no records found. Let's figure out what went wrong. Click "OK" to continue.
  8. It seems the problem lies with the field chosen for the search.
  9. Click on this down-arrow to see a list of available fields to search for and click on the correct field you need.
  10. Since we are looking for a last name "Bush" we have clicked on the option "LastName"
  11. Afterwards, click on "Search" again.
  12. Great! The results have been highlighted. Take note that "Bush" doesn't appear on any other field besides the LastName field. That is why the search eariler failed.
  13. Once, done just click on "Close"
  14. Great! You have learned about searching through query results based on a single field.
