Find Text Fragments - OpenOffice.org Writer

How-To: Find Text Fragments - OpenOffice.org Writer
  1. A "Find" action always starts at the current cursor position. Right here.
  2. To find a word or text fragment, click on the "Edit" menu.
  3. Select the "Find & Replace" item from the menu.
  4. The "Find & Replace" dialog appears.
  5. Click into the "Search for" field.
  6. Type the word or text fragment you want to search for into the "Search for" field.
  7. Click the "Find" button to execute the search.
  8. Writer highlights the first occurrence of the search text following the last cursor position.
  9. Click the "Find" button again to advance to the next occurrence of the text fragment.
  10. Writer has highlighted the next occurrence of our text fragment.
  11. Clicking the "Find" button again advances to the next occurrence of the word.
  12. This time the highlighted text does not exactly match the word we are looking for. It is missing the capitalized letter "O".
  13. To find only matching capitalization, check the "Match case" checkbox in the "Find & Replace" dialog.
  14. Click the "Find" button again.
  15. The next occurrence does match the case of our word.
  16. Click twice more the "Find" button.
  17. The highlighted text does match our capitalization again.
  18. However, Writer skipped the word when in a differing capitalization.
  19. Click the "Close" button to end the "Find and Replace" action.
